Tutorial Intro

Beginner Floral and Snowmen Projects

A Tutorial on the Basics of Decorative Painting

This instructional packet was not only written for new painters, but it was actually put to the test before being released to the public by a study group consisting of new painters... to struggling beginners of various levels, trying to learn decorative painting on their own.

I feel after having included the answers to any questions they had...which were actually very few, this learning kit can help others learn to paint as well. If you can read...you can do this. The 12 page tutorial about all the basics is worth the price of the packet alone. The packet also includes two color step by step worksheet. plus two closeup photos, as well as eight pages of written project instructions.

It isn't about painting these two particular projects as much as it is about learning to paint...period!

If you're a struggling painter, please give it a try. I know it will help you!

If you're a teacher, with beginner students...your work has already been done for you. This can be an invaluable classroom project! If new painters did this well on their own, imagine what they can do with a teacher in the room!

Below are a few comments from those that participated in the test group.

"I was one of the lucky listers chosen by Phyllis, to work on her two projects and then send in comments. I can't begin to tell you how much I learned and what it did for my confidence. I CAN PAINT! This lady can really get a point across and I thought that I only learned visually. WOW, I am impressed with her skill to impart knowledge and very appreciative that she shared it with me." - Janet T.

I had the privilege of doing the two projects that Mrs. T was testing - and yippee! I am no longer a "from scratch painting virgin". Life is good. The instructions were clear and concise. I had to read them over and over to get it to stick in my pea-brain, but.... wow! I did a project on my own. Very good feeling - now I think I can try another project and succeed. Sucess breeds success, doesn't it? Yep! it does. So, thanks Mrs. T., I am on my way" - Vonnie W.

"I can't even begin to express just how much I learned from this experience and just how much my painting has improved - especially my basecoating and my floating of color! It's just amazing! My confidence is way up there now also and I am reaching out to go through all the books and pattern packets I have been accumulating over the last year and deciding what new projects I am going to do. While I have not decided yet which project I will tackle..I can tell you that it will be more complicated than the ones I have been tackling before I went through "Learning the Basics".... I am no longer saying "Wish I could paint like that," or "I can't do that, it's too advanced for me." It may seem like nothing to most of you, but for me to have reached this point is major. It truly is, and it feels good to finally have self-confidence in regards to painting, it really does." - Jan W.
